Wetherby Senior’s Year 10 boys have performed brilliantly and shown off their biological brains in a national competition.
Taking part in the UK Biology Challenge alongside over 340 other schools, our pupils completed online multiple-choice papers in exam conditions, testing both their knowledge of the school curriculum and their broader interest in the subject of biology
Mr Pimlott, Head of Science, said: “Congratulations to Ali, Tobi and Rufus, who were awarded a Silver Certificate in the UK Biology Challenge, and congratulations to all our Bronze Certificate winners – Coby, Faiz, Oscar, Nikita, Ivan, Miles and Enlai.
“Our young scientists worked very hard, which is reflected in these strong results, and I’m very proud of the determination and knowledge that was on display in this nationwide competition.”
Aimed at pupils aged 13 to 15, the UK Biology Challenge stimulates curiosity for the natural world and encourages young people to take an interest in biology outside of school. Although questions are set on the school curriculum, the competition also rewards those whose knowledge of the subject has been increased by reading books and magazines, watching natural history programmes, taking notice of the news media for items of biological interest, and are generally aware of our world’s natural flora and fauna.
