Mental health matters

One of the UK’s leading mental health campaigners has given a series of inspiring talks to pupils and parents at Wetherby Senior, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

Last Friday, Natasha Devon visited Wetherby Senior to speak with Years 8 and 10 on important topics related to social media, self-esteem and mental health. At the end of the school day, she then gave a talk to Wetherby Senior parents on communication and mental health in our Marylebone Lane Drama Studio.

Ms Eaves, Head of Lower School, said: “Natasha spoke to our Year 8 boys about issues relating to social media, phones, tech and self-esteem, and to our Year 10 boys about how to support a friend with their mental health.

“We are very grateful to Natasha for taking the time to visit our School, talking to both pupils and parents, during Mental Health Awareness Week.”

Awarded an MBE in 2015 for her services to young people, Natasha has a weekly radio show on LBC and has published two books (A Beginner’s Guide to Being Mental: An A-Z in 2018 and Yes You Can: Ace Your Exams Without Losing Your Mind in 2020), with her debut novel set to be published in July. She is also the founder of the Mental Health Media Charter, and a trustee of Student Minds.
