Headmaster’s blog 08/12/2023

I find myself reaching the end of our penultimate week of term in a festive frame of mind helped, in part, by watching our fantastic Upper School play, A Christmas Carol Showcase. Congratulations to all involved in such brilliant production, from our talented young cast to our superb director team, which included Ms Vickers and Ms Clark from our Drama Department, and Christos in Year 12.

Staying with success, I’d also like to say well done to our football team for their victory in last week’s Friday Nights Light match.

Next week, we have a number of events and activities, alongside our usual lessons, to keep everyone in a festive mood, like our Christmas Concert on Wednesday evening and our Staff Panto on Thursday afternoon! A reminder that our charitable giving opportunities next week include our Christmas raffle (tickets cost £1), our annual shoebox collection for West London Mission, and our Christmas Jumper Day. Our term will end next Friday at around 1pm, following our end-of-term assembly in St Marylebone Parish Church.

Finally, a few weeks back, we had a professional videographer visit to record some short interviews with staff and our current Head Boy. So, please do head to our School’s YouTube channel to hear more from Ms Pheiffer about pastoral care and our Yondr initiative; to listen to Ms Murray, Mr Searle and Mr Martin talk about their respective departments; to be inspired by Ms Holmes and her innovative Careers Programme; and to see Paul discuss being Head Boy and his time within our Sixth Form. In addition, Mr Lawrence has recorded a very useful video about the process of finding and applying for a secondary school, plus some tips on preparing your child for interviews. While, for many of you, this process will be a distant memory, others may wish to forward this to family or friends, who have younger children and may find it helpful.
