Lights, camera, award!

A short film produced by a Wetherby Senior sixth former has been awarded a prestigious prize.

Max, currently in Year 13, recently won the Outstanding Student Short Film award at the Surrey Short Film Festival. At the festival, which celebrates national and international short films, Max’s award was presented to him by the owner of Slick Films, an Academy Award winning independent production company.

Mr Hayes, Head of Sixth Form, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and we’re all so proud of Max! His success is made even more significant when you consider that he was competing against films made by students at film schools who had much larger crew and much higher budgets.”

Max is currently applying to study filmmaking at university next year, with the highly-ranked University of York being one of his top choices.

Well done Max!
