Headmaster’s blog 24/03/2023

We may be nearing the Easter holidays but our days in Marylebone continue to be filled with academic work, co-curricular activities and more. This last week alone has seen a number of fascinating talks and trips take place, so I hope you enjoy reading the stories (below) on a visit by the CEO from the Howard de Walden Estate, our Houses of Parliament tour for sixth formers, and our recent Duke of Edinburgh expeditions.

In addition, we had our Friday Night Lights match last week (congratulations to our U18 team on their 3-2 victory), our wonderful concert took place on Wednesday night, and final rehearsals are underway for next week’s Trib Drama. A reminder that the very last tickets for Cockroaches (in our Marylebone Lane Drama Studio on Monday 27th and Thursday 30th March) are available on ParentPay.

Our sponsored spin took place on Wednesday and, while we are still collecting and counting all the sponsorship money, it already looks set to be our School’s biggest single fundraiser, with over £5,500 going to support West London Mission. Congratulations to our winning Trib, Walbrook, and well done to Andrew H, in Year 12, for achieving our School’s best distance in his half-hour slot, even if his result means that I am relegated to second place….

A reminder that we still have a full and busy week in Marylebone before the end of term on Friday 31st March. While the Easter holidays (3rd to 17th April) will be an opportunity to recharge after a busy start to 2023, it will also be a moment for our exam cohorts to undertake further work in preparation for their exams. I encourage our boys to take advantage of this time, to ensure they then feel confident and able to give the best accounts of themselves in their summer exams.
