Vive la Tarte Normande

It was bon appetit for Wetherby Senior’s sixth formers, as they prepared a tasty French dessert during their recent Liberal Studies class.

As our picture, below, shows, our sixth formers created a delicious Tarte Normande or French apple tart, a popular dessert that features signature ingredients from the northern region of the country.

Mr Leverage, Head of Modern Foreign Language, said: “The recipe was very straightforward, taking just 20 minutes from start to finish, and we then enjoyed our Tarte Normande with crème fraiche.”

Our Liberal Studies options help our sixth formers to extend their learning beyond the usual A Level curriculum. Mr Leverage’s class ensures boys improve their culinary competence, while learning how to plan a week’s menu and create a shopping list from a fixed budget, which are useful skills for later life, particularly if studying away from home at university.
