Wetherby Senior are working with two leading organisations on gender equality, to support understanding and awareness of topical issues around relationships and gender.
Last week, Year 9 undertook a relationship workshop with representatives from Beyond Equality, who have worked with our School for a number of years. As well as helping boys understand how they can form healthier relationships, this workshop also challenged harmful attitudes towards sex, and homophobia.
Our Year 10 cohort also met with The Collective Futures Project, an organisation that Wetherby Senior started working with just this year. Their workshop explored language, building understanding of gendered language, banter and locker room talk, and analysis of song lyrics. Collective Futures will now return to Marylebone to undertake a workshop with Year 11 on navigating relationships in an anti-sexist way.
Ms Dodson, Assistant Head: Head of Middle School, said: “Strong pastoral care is at the heart of Wetherby Senior, with our Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) programme providing a comfortable and familiar environment for discussion of sensitive and potentially difficult topics.
“We’ve delighted be working with Beyond Equality and Collective Futures in helping our boys develop awareness and understanding about behaviours that are healthier for themselves and others.”
More information about Beyond Equality, and about The Collective Futures Project, is available on their respective websites.
