Headmaster’s blog 30/09/22

It has been fantastic to welcome a number of current parents to Marylebone this week, starting with our successful Year 8 parents’ evening on Tuesday. This was followed, on Wednesday, by an exciting A Level subject taster afternoon for our Year 11, before a well-attended Sixth Form information evening for pupils and parents.

I know our Sixth Form staff enjoyed meeting everyone and it was a wonderful way to introduce our team of specialist university advisors, who provide top quality advice to our boys on courses, destinations, and application processes.

At Wetherby Senior, we begin our higher education support much earlier than most other schools, with each boy allocated one of our university advisors in Year 11. This enables our university advisors to get to know boys very well, building excellent relationships and offering a highly personalised service to help each pupil prepare for the future.

Alongside this week’s activities with current parents, we are also preparing to welcome prospective parents tomorrow, at our Open Day. Thank you again to all staff and pupils who are supporting our Saturday 1st October event – with around 250 families booked to attend, it promises to be a busy day and a great opportunity to showcase Wetherby Senior.

Finally, as part of our academic and pastoral awards system, current Wetherby Senior pupils are honoured with a Gold Note to mark their excellent work, behaviour, and attitude. When current parents near the end of our weekly email newsletter, where we also show current Trib totals, they will find we are listing boys who have achieved an outstanding number of Gold Notes in this last week. This new feature enables us to further celebrate their hard work and success, so congratulations to all shown. I look forward to seeing more names appear as we progress through the academic year.
