From the legacy of apartheid to cryptocurrency, and from the viability of space travel to where almonds should be grown, Wetherby Senior’s Year 12 have been wowing staff with their Extended Project Qualifications (EPQ).
Worth half an A Level, the EPQ is an opportunity for young people to examine a topic that interests or inspires them in further detail, and usually results in production of a 5,000 word essay. As part of this, our sixth formers have been presenting their work to their EPQ supervisor and another member of School staff today, through individual 20-minute-long presentations.
Mrs Deedat, Head of our Sixth Form, said: “I am so impressed by the high standards shown in these research projects and by how hard our boys have worked. All have been eager to talk about their research and the sheer variety of subjects, from finance to computing, and from history to sport, means there have been presentations to interest and fascinate everyone.”
Highly respected by universities and employers, the EPQ enables our sixth formers to undertake an independent research project, building valuable skills in research, analysis and public speaking that are useful for further study and in any career.
