Wetherby Senior’s Year 8 will be sleeping in new beds next week – the outdoor terrace at our School’s Hannah House building.
In partnership with the charity movement, End Youth Homelessness (EYH), our boys will spend Thursday night at our School and raise funds for young people facing homelessness across the UK. Donations can be made via our School’s Just Giving page, with over £1,300 having been generously pledged already.
English teacher, Mr Hayes, is co-ordinating our School’s involvement in EYH’s Sleep at School initiative. He explains: “During the evening, our boys will take part in a series of events including listening to a talk, undertaking project work on homelessness, and watching a film. After a hot chocolate, our pupils will bed down outside, using the enclosed terrace on the second floor at Hannah House. The next morning, they will enjoy a hot breakfast before starting their school day.
“Thank you to everyone who has already donated via our School’s Just Giving page. If others with to sponsor our boys, then please do so here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/wsssleepatschool”.
With 122,000 young people currently facing homelessness in the UK, End Youth Homelessness is a movement of the UK’s leading youth homelessness charities, helping to provide bright futures for vulnerable young people. For further information, please visit the website at: https://www.eyh.org.uk/en/.
