YEAR 12 AND 13 CURRICULUM CONTENT

Three A Levels from the following:

  • English Literature / English Language / Maths and/or Further Maths / Biology / Chemistry / Physics / MFL / Latin or Classical Civilisation / History / Geography / Religion and Ethics / Politics / Economics / Psychology / Theatre Studies / Art and Design / Music/Film Studies

Plus

  • EPQ and / or AS (examined in Year 13) in English Lit/Maths/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/ MFL/ Latin/History/Geography/ Politics/Psychology/Theatre Studies/Art and Design/Music/Film Studies
  • A non-examined general studies course (includes careers and UCAS)

HOMEWORK

Year 12 & 13 pupils are timetabled with 5 private study periods, unsupervised by the end of year 12).  Approximately 5 hours per A Level subject each week.

For each A Level subject the expectation is that boys should be doing 5 hours work per week.

For AS, they should be doing 3 hours per week. For those doing an EPQ, the requirement is a minimum of 90 hours of independent study over the whole course.

Overall, then, the workload is around 18 hours per week of independent study and learning.
