Music at Wetherby Senior School is taught to all boys from years 7-9 for one period per week.  It is an option subject for both GCSE and A Level from September 2016.  Music Technology (at AS or A Level) may also be an option if there is sufficient demand.

Instrumental lessons and an ever-growing selection of co-curricular activities supplement what is learnt in lessons.

teaching and learning

Boys in Years 7-9 follow tailor-made schemes of work with topics ranging from Rock ‘n’ Roll to Drum and Bass Music, and Samba to Fanfares.  All lessons involve substantial practical music making; either with class sets of drums or keyboards, or using our brand new state-of-the-art Apple Mac suite with the latest music specific software (Sibelius 7.5 and Cubase 8 Pro).  Boys will develop their singing, playing, improvising, composition, listening and understanding skills across the course of Key Stage 3, as well as building on their knowledge of music theory and history.

The Department will be teaching the new Edexcel GCSE Music specification from September as well as the 2-year A Level Music course (exam board TBC).
