The Perfect Environment for Maximising Our Boys' Potential

A Word From Our Head

In our relatively short history, Wetherby Senior has built a vibrant, diverse and caring community with strong shared values. Our objective is simple – we want our young people to experience an outstanding, well-rounded and progressive education that prepares them to face modern life with a strong sense of responsibility and compassion towards others.

Our dynamic, experienced teachers provide an environment which inspires and nurtures our boys as individuals. The breadth of our academic offering is designed to help students become young adults who are resilient, adaptable, creative, and motivated to continue learning throughout their lives.

Our extensive co-curricular programme helps boys to develop their unique passions and pursue new interests. We offer a diverse range of clubs, music tuition in various instruments, and at least three drama productions every year. Sport is compulsory, and boys enjoy access to superb on-site equipment and state-of-the-art external facilities.

Exceptional university and career guidance begins early at Wetherby Senior, and our recent alumni now study at leading universities across the UK, Europe and North America.

Our website provides some insight into life at Wetherby Senior, but I warmly invite you to attend our Open Day or Visitor Mornings, where you will get to meet me, my colleagues and our pupils, and experience our school firsthand.

aims

Our Aims

The academic life of our school is central to what we do. Rigorous learning and high-quality teaching enable academic success and unlock the potential of every learner. We aim to cultivate and embed a love of learning that enables our learners to adapt throughout their lives. We also foster engagement and resilience through the understanding that effort leads to progress, confidence and success.

Excellent pastoral care underpins individual success. We provide an environment in which all community members feel secure and supported, allowing them to thrive as individuals.

The co-curricular life of our school is enriching for each pupil, develops their character, and enables them to find and nurture their talents and interests. We offer a high-quality programme of creative arts, sports and co-curricular activities that give opportunities for leadership, service, teamwork, global engagement and personal growth.

We have first-class staff, resources, and facilities to support our aims, and an admissions process that attracts talented pupils who will thrive in our community.

An Ambitious Curriculum

Our rigorous curriculum is taught by subject specialists and elevated by outstanding facilities to reinforce knowledge and maximise understanding.

Our fascinating and rewarding Lower School curriculum provides a solid foundation for future studies. All Year 7s learn to play a brass or string instrument, with teaching supported by professional musicians.

The dynamic Middle School curriculum features a structured programme that supports leading preparation and decision-making for GCSEs and reflects each boy’s unique ambitions.

In the Sixth Form, classes remain small, and boys select three A Levels and complete their Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) on a topic of their choosing.
