Sports

Our exemplary sports programme is meticulously crafted to promote technical and physical excellence while building a foundation for long-term health and wellbeing.

Students are regularly coached by professionals in their fields, including former English national rugby coach Eddie Jones. With access to the best sports facilities, our boys extend and elevate their sporting abilities. Along with our cutting-edge strength and conditioning suite onsite, students make use of extensive pitches at Ealing Trailfinders, also used by professional rugby and cricket teams.

Sports are compulsory across year groups, and our broad selection caters to all interests, from football, rugby, tennis and cricket to basketball, swimming, yoga and table tennis. Weekly fixtures provide a packed timetable for our numerous sports teams, and external competitions and inter-Trib events allow boys to develop their skills even further, represent their school or Trib, and make lifelong friends and connections.

Music

Music

We encourage all students to develop their artistic abilities. Around 200 boys enjoy one-on-one music lessons, led by highly accomplished professional musicians, who perform regularly with Europe’s top bands and orchestras. Every boy learns to play one brass or string instrument in Year 7 to discover and nurture their unique talents, and establish a basis for future accomplishment.

Our exceptional and active School Choir and many popular ensembles mean that music is a vibrant dimension of Wetherby Senior school life. Concerts and recitals take place termly, allowing students to showcase their outstanding abilities and providing pivotal public performance experience.

Drama

Drama

Drama at Wetherby Senior is an exciting experience that cultivates a broad and practical skill set. Exceptional tutelage and prestigious opportunities help learners become skilled performers and experience all aspects of theatre production, both on the stage and behind the scenes.

Our excellent Drama Department produces three large-scale productions every year, in which students participate either onstage or in other areas (e.g., lighting and set design). The Upper School show is our largest production, performed with girls from Francis Holland School, Regent’s Park. Taking place at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), the production allows students to experience a professional theatre space and learn from the best in the business by collaborating with costume, set and lighting designers from the West End.

Our central London location ensures easy access to many exciting and innovative productions, and our Drama Department has run trips to see ‘Hamilton’, ‘Othello’, ‘Blood Brothers’, ‘Life of Pi’ and ‘Best of Enemies’ and others.

Volunteering and Charity Work

Students in each year group volunteer to support those in the community and across London, whether by helping the elderly use digital devices or assisting learners at local primary schools. They also take part in fundraising activities to support charities chosen by the School Council, having fun while they deepen their knowledge about issues facing the world today.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a popular, challenging and well-respected programme that is achieved by completing a personal programme of activities in numerous sections. It is an excellent opportunity for our young people to enhance their teamwork, organisation and leadership skills.

Leadership

Leadership roles allow students to contribute positively to our school and broader society while developing important transferable skills. These include Middle School Ambassadors, Trib representatives, School Council positions and, in the Sixth Form, Head Boy, Deputy Head Boy, and prefect positions, along with peer and academic mentors.

Career Guidance

Our careers programme starts from the moment boys join (much earlier than most schools) and aims to instil drive and purpose while ensuring each boy fulfils his potential in our increasingly competitive and ever-changing world.

Through our comprehensive approach, which includes mock interviews, skills-based projects, expert talks, internal discussions, personal development, subject linkage and co-curricular activities, our pupils are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to make informed career choices. We explore university options and professional life with support from a brilliant range of potential employers, our own exceptional staff and our active alumni network.
