Transforming Lives with an Exceptional Education

Studying at Wetherby Senior is a transformative experience, and we are immensely proud of the opportunities that we offer. Bursaries and scholarships are essential to this legacy, as they allow us to welcome boys of different economic backgrounds. This has the dual impact of making a life-changing difference for the individual pupil and broadening the experience and perspectives of all our young people.

Means-Tested Bursaries

Means-Tested Bursaries

Wetherby Senior offers financial assistance in the form of bursaries, which are designed to widen access to our school by (1) enabling boys to come who could not otherwise do so, and (2) allowing boys to remain at our school in the event of a change in family circumstances.

Applicants for 11+, 16+ or Occasional Place entry should indicate their intention to request a bursary when they submit their application. Our bursary application process runs alongside the admissions process for applicants at these entry points.

Applicants for 13+ entry should apply after securing a place at Wetherby Senior. Applications must be submitted by the start of the Spring Term prior to a boy joining in Year 9.

Sixth Form Academic Scholarships

Sixth Form Academic Scholarships

Any current Year 11 pupil or prospective Year 12 pupil may apply for a Wetherby Senior Sixth Form Scholarship. These are of monetary value and are expressed as a percentage discount on school fees for the whole of the Sixth Form period. Being awarded one of our Sixth Form Academic Scholarships is a prestigious accomplishment. Scholarship holders will be recognised at Prize Day in our Summer Term and are expected to contribute to the Wetherby school community while excelling in their studies.

Prospective pupils write scholarship exams (separate from the 16+ admissions exams) during the second half of the Autumn Term in conjunction with the admissions process. The content of each paper will be GCSE-level material on subjects the boy wishes to study at A Level.

Our Scholarship Committee will meet to consider the results of the papers along with the relevant considerations, such as the candidates’ existing academic data.
