We are delighted that you are considering Wetherby Senior for your son’s education. Our main entry points are Years 7 (for boys aged 11+), 9 (ages 13+) and 12 (ages 16+), though we also accept boys in Years 8-10 through the availability of occasional places. Kindly complete the following steps to apply for a place at our school.

Registration

Learn how to apply for 11+, 13+, 16+ and Occasional places below.

Pupils applying to join Year 7 at Wetherby Senior are required to take our entrance exam during the autumn term of Year 6, with interviews taking place in the spring term of Year 6.

 

11+ entry in September 2025

Applications for entry to Year 7 at Wetherby Senior in September 2025 closed at 12 noon on Friday 18th October. If you are looking to submit a late application, please contact our Registrar.

Boys applying for 11+ entry are required to take Wetherby Senior’s bespoke entrance test during the autumn term of Year 6.  This assesses English and Mathematics, covered in the National Curriculum up to the end of Year 5, plus verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

Most applicants will be able to sit the assessment in their current school between 4th and 29th November 2024. Please check with your son’s school whether they will host our assessment, as applicants will be asked to confirm where they will be sitting assessment.

For applicants unable to sit the assessment at their current school, Wetherby Senior will run several hosted assessments during November, with our main assessment on Saturday 23rd November 2024. We will offer morning and afternoon assessments on this Saturday, and applicants will be asked to select their assessment session closer to the time.

For applicants unable to attend that Saturday, Wetherby Senior will host further sessions across week commencing 18th November. All applicants will need to have sat their test by 29th November.

Our interviews for selected candidates will be held in January 2025, in Marylebone.

Please note: our School’s 11+ and 13+ application processes run concurrently when boys are in Year 6. Parents must choose either our 11+ entry route or 13+ entry route at time of application. We cannot change your son’s entry route after assessment. Please use our registration form, below.

  • Friday 18th October 2024 (at 12pm): Deadline for receipt of applications (and all learning support documentation)
  • November 2024: Wetherby Senior assessment to take place and reference requested from current school
  • Mid-December 2024: Interview invites issued to successful candidates
  • Saturday 11th January 2025: Interviews for selected candidates
  • Friday 31st January 2025: Offer letters posted
  • Wednesday 5th March 2025 (at 12pm): Deadline for all responses

We usually offer places to candidates from our waiting list after the closing date for acceptances.

16+ entry in September 2025

Applications for 16+ entry to our Sixth Form in September 2024 closed at 12 noon on Friday 18th October. If you are looking to submit a late application, please contact our Registrar.

Boys applying for 16+ entry would be invited to our 16+ assessment day. Here, boys are interviewed and sit our bespoke entrance exam which will assess English and Mathematics, covered in the National Curriculum up to the end of Year 10, plus verbal and non-verbal reasoning. A familiarisation test is available on our website. Our 16+ assessment day gives candidates a chance to meet current members of our Sixth Form and tour our School.

Although Wetherby Senior’s main entry points are at 11+, 13+ and 16+, places occasionally become available within our Years 8 and 10.

Occasional places at Wetherby Senior

Places are occasionally available within Years 8 and 10 at Wetherby Senior. Unfortunately, we do not accept applicants into Year 11 or 13 unless under extremely exceptional circumstances.

We also offer occasional place applications for boys who have missed our 13+ process during Year 6. Our Year 9 occasional place assessments start from summer term of Year 7. Candidates who apply after the Autumn Term of Year 6 application deadline will not be assessed until this time.

Our occasional place assessments are carried out throughout the year (approximately half-termly) and our Registrar will invite those who have applied to the next assessment date, as it is scheduled.

Step 3

Assessment & Interview

Candidates will be assessed at all entry points with a bespoke test based on their year level. Assessments take place at their current school or Wetherby Senior, and selected candidates will be interviewed.

Receive an Offer

Successful candidates receive formal offers of a place at Wetherby Senior.
