A life on the Whitstable waves
Wetherby Senior’s Year 12 geographers have been conducting A Level fieldwork at a popular seaside town in the south of England.
Last week, our A Level Geography class headed to Whitstable, on the Kent coastline. Although this small town has become a fashionable tourist attraction, due to its harbour, character and dining opportunities, there are concerns that increased numbers of visitors may have a detrimental effect. This ensured that Whitstable provided an ideal location for fieldwork by our Year 12 geographers.
Ms Smith, Head of Geography, said: “Our sixth formers spent a productive and enjoyable day in Whitstable, undertaking coastal and human fieldwork that allowed them to explore the impact of exogenous factors on the character and sense of place in Whitstable.
“This day enabled our sixth formers to practise their fieldwork techniques, in preparation for the coursework element of their A Level.”
While pupils and staff were dodging the rain back in Marylebone, the sun shone down on our sixth formers as they conducted their A Level fieldwork in Whitstable.
