Headmaster’s blog 13/05/22

While Friday 13 May marks the end of another busy week for most at Wetherby Senior, it has an even greater significance for our oldest year group. Our Year 13 have A Level clinic next week and then exams, meaning today was their final time together, as a full cohort at Marylebone, until our leavers’ drinks on Friday 24th June.

With our Year 11 already on study leave, I would like to wish all boys, in both Years 11 and 13, the best of luck in their exams.

Looking ahead, as we continue to encourage the academic ambitions of our young people, there are a number of upcoming events on higher education options that I wish to highlight. Next Tuesday, we have a seminar at 6pm, at Marylebone Lane, talking about university applications, aimed at Year 12 parents. Since many of our boys remain interested in studying outside the UK, and that application process differs dramatically to the UCAS system, we are also holding an event on applying to Canadian universities at 6pm on Thursday 26th May. This is open to pupils and parents in Years 10, 11 and 12. Finally, our US Advisor, Ms Gagnon, hosts a webinar on Thursday 9th June on applying to study in the USA. Open to pupils and parents, further details and a registration link for this online event are provided in our newsletter.

As promised, this week’s newsletter (plus our social media channels – Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – over the last week) contains many stories on last Friday’s Field Day. I hope you enjoy reading about all the informative and interesting activities undertaken by our young people, and thank you to the staff involved in putting together such a fascinating and diverse programme.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
