Headmaster’s blog 29/04/2022

Our first full week following the Easter break has seen the return if our co-curricular programme, exams underway for some sixth formers, and the final touches falling into place for our Field Day on Friday 6th May.

While the sight of exam desks in neat rows at our Hannah House may bring many of us out into a cold sweat, I’m pleased to say that our Year 12 have conducted themselves with great maturity and this week has gone very smoothly. For our exam cohorts of Years 11 and 13, there are just a few short weeks until study leave starts and exams beckon. I am sure our boys have been preparing carefully and I encourage all to keep up the hard work, so they can give a good account of themselves in their forthcoming GCSEs or A Levels.

Returning briefly to Year 12, I’d like to thank Ms von Graevenitz and those involved in the Year 12 parents’ drinks reception at Kibele last Tuesday. Our Head of Sixth Form, Mrs Deedat, tells me it was a fantastic event and greatly enjoyed by all.

As we continue to move into our Summer Term, our PE Department have ensured an exciting programme of sport which is reflected in a recent article by Independent School Parent magazine (available to read online here). I’m delighted that our facilities in Marylebone and at Ealing Trailfinders will mean our boys can test their abilities in tennis, cricket, athletics, boxercise, swimming and more in the weeks ahead. Aside from the obvious health benefits of participation in sport, research has shown that it can improve mental wellbeing and increase confidence, as well as being a fun way to make the most of our (hopefully) sunny summer months.

A reminder that Monday is a bank holiday, so we expect all back on Tuesday 3rd May.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
