Botanic brilliance

Fennel, garlic and sorrel are just some of the plants now growing at Wetherby Senior, thanks to the green fingers of our Botanist Club members.

Last term, a group of pupils and staff initiated our new Botanist Club, helping our young people learn how to take care of plants, while promoting a good awareness of the environment. Meeting every Friday, our Botanist Club has been using the courtyard area, behind our Marylebone Lane Drama Studio, to grow many of their plants.

Classics teacher, Miss Woods, explains: “In the last few months, our boys have been examining the conditions in which certain plants thrive, as well as cultivating their own herbs that can be used in cooking. This been a great experience for all involved, while the plants that have grown as a result of their dedication and enthusiasm are very impressive!”

Wetherby Senior’s Botanist Club welcomes new members for the Summer Term. Please sign up on SOCS or speak to Miss Woods or Mrs Deedat for more information.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
