Amazing admissions advice

Sixth formers at Wetherby Senior have been taking on roles as US admissions officers, to gain further understanding of the US admissions process.

Last week over 100 young people, including sixth formers from Wetherby Senior, attended a fun and interactive mock US admissions event. Hosted at our School, participants were placed in groups and asked to act as an admissions officer choosing between students applying to different American colleges.

With senior admissions professionals from leading US universities like Notre Dame, New York and USC facilitating, this evening provided an insight into how admissions officers make their decisions and should help sixth formers when making their own university applications.

Mrs Deedat, Head of Sixth Form, said: “Over the last three years, Wetherby Senior has seen increasing numbers apply to universities outside the UK, particularly North America. As the US admissions process differs dramatically to the UK’s UCAS system, we provide extensive advice and guidance to support these aspirations, and this event was another fantastic chance for our boys to find out more.

“We were very happy to host this UES Education event and already work very closely with UES Education, a brilliant organisation providing high quality, tailored support to young people wishing to study in the US.”

Wetherby Senior’s current Year 13 presently hold over 120 offers, across 35 subjects, at universities around the UK and in North America, France, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
