Happy campers

While the majority of Wetherby Senior’s community headed home after Friday’s Field Day, a number of our boys and staff were out camping on the Chiltern Hills.

As part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, pupils from Years 10 and 12 were taking part in expeditions as part of their Bronze and Silver awards respectively. Accompanied by teaching staff, this trip ensured our boys are well on the way to completing the skills, volunteering and physical activities element of their Award.

Mr Sullivan, Head of Co-Curricular spent last Friday and Saturday with sixth formers working towards their Silver DoE Award. He said: “All our boys have been working hard to prepare for these expeditions and it is great to see them putting their skills and training into practice.”

“For our Year 10 participants, this Bronze Practice Expedition was a way to coach our groups, so they can be fully independent for their assessment during the Qualifying Expedition, which runs from Friday 6th to Saturday 7th May.”

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a youth awards programme, founded by Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. It has since expanded to 144 nations, with participants needing to complete four sections for Bronze and Silver levels, and five for Gold.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
