Headmaster’s blog 11/02/22

And so we reach our half-term break, ending with our charity mufti day and a sea of Trib colours amongst our boys. We have more charity events and challenges to look forward after the break, starting with our Sponsored Spin on Wednesday 2nd March. More details are in our weekly newsletter and those keen to take part should sign up with their Head of Trib. A longer news story about this will be in our newsletter on Friday 25th February.

It has certainly been a busy start to 2022 at Wetherby Senior, with theatre trips, sports fixtures, music performances, lectures and more. On the academic side, our current Year 13 are now receiving university offers and we will be reporting more on their success after the holiday.

As you will know, at Wetherby Senior, we remain keen to provide our young people with leadership opportunities and the chance to take on additional responsibilities. To this end, prefect applications from our current Year 12 are open (until Friday 25th February) and our Year 12 academic mentors are working, on a one-to-one basis, with their younger mentees every Tuesday at 4:00pm. All subjects are covered, including languages, maths, English and drama. This means that, if you think your son would benefit from additional support or extension, there are plenty of mentors keen to help out and it provides a valuable experience for both the mentor and mentee. Please get in touch with Miss Page for further details.

In addition, a number of our young people have hard at work on The Barometer. Our latest issue has just been published and can be read online here. Congratulations to all involved in producing another strong and interesting read, which I hope you will also enjoy over this half-term break.

A final reminder: all boys are expected back on Monday 21st February.

Wetherby Senior sixth formers have been snapping around London, taking photos of what our capital city means to them.
