Spring into action

This Spring Term, Wetherby Senior School are launching a new functional movement initiative with one of the UK’s leaders in sport movement.

Wetherby Senior have partnered with FMS Schools to introduce a new functional movement program. The technology will enable our Physical Education Department to screen for movement efficiency and then improve and develop functional movement. Every pupil involved will have a personalised development pathway to support, balance, mobility and postural control.

Ryan Fuller, Assistant Director of Sport at Wetherby Senior, said: “We are delighted to be working with FMS Schools. At Wetherby Senior, athlete development and well-being are at the forefront of everything we do. We firmly believe that the FMS platform will enable our pupils to improve their own movement competency, mobility, body awareness and physical development. Using the FMS software will allow our young people to gain a greater understanding into how to move and breathe efficiently, as well as giving each boy an individualised programme to improve their physical literacy. Having access to this platform will only enhance the provision we can offer our pupils.”

Peter Bowler, CEO, FMS Schools, said: “By developing the correct movement habits in their formative years, we hope to see children develop a positive association to movement giving confidence as a teenager and ultimately setting them on a more active path for the rest of their lives.”

Wetherby Senior partnership with FMS UK will help our School continue our sporting ambitions for all our young people, ensuring they  develop an ongoing involvement in regular physical activities to support a healthy and active life.
